The Seminaries of Saint Paul

The Seminaries of Saint Paul is a national center of formation where joyful, Catholic leaders are filled with God’s love, deeply rooted in the beautiful teachings of our Church, and eager to give their lives in service of others. The CSAF funds both Saint John Vianney College Seminary and The Saint Paul Seminary as outlined below:

Saint John Vianney College Seminary is one of the largest college seminaries in the United States. SJV nurtures the seeds of priestly vocations and prepares young men for major seminary through a premier education at the University of St. Thomas, a systematic formation in Christian character, and a traditional Catholic program of spiritual growth. Combined with a four-year program of spiritual conferences and individual spiritual direction, Saint John Vianney seminarians receive a full college and seminary experience. More than 500 Saint John Vianney College Seminary alumni are serving as ordained priests today. Many more serve as lay leaders and faith-filled witnesses, building up the Catholic Church throughout the world.

The Catholic Services Appeal Foundation funds the room and board expense for all men from the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis studying at SJV each year. In the 2018-2019 academic school year, 25 men are studying at SJV from our Archdiocese.

The Saint Paul Seminary serves as a center of formation where priests receive the finest preparation for ordination to priestly ministry. It is a community oriented towards holiness and mission, in the model of the original apostles who gathered around Christ. Here, a man who feels called by God to become a priest submits himself to intensive training in the four dimensions of priestly formation: human, intellectual, spiritual, and pastoral. Through the sacrament of Holy Orders, these men are formed as missionary disciples to lead and serve God’s people.

The Catholic Services Appeal Foundation funds tuition, room, and board for all men from the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis attending The Saint Paul Seminary. In the 2018-2019 academic school year, 27 men are studying at SPS from our Archdiocese.

2019 CSAF Goal Amount: $1,063,807

For most ministries, CSAF funds only part of their annual budget. Some ministries have other sources of funds, such as participant fees and direct donor gifts for some of their programs.
