Supporting the Seminarians of the Archdiocese

October 3, 2023In our work to support future leaders of our Church, CSAF contributes to the cost of room and board for seminarians intending to serve as Archdiocesan priests. We connect with the Office of Vocations that works with two seminaries: Saint John Vianney College Seminary and Saint Paul Seminary.
Saint John Vianney provides formation to approximately 100 undergraduate seminarians, about 20 of whom are from the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. These seminarians live at St. John Vianney College Seminary and receive formation from the priest staff but are also students at the University of St. Thomas. Within the University, the seminarians study philosophy and often add a second major in Catholic Studies. Like most undergraduates, they complete a standard course of study in four years.The Saint Paul Seminary is a 129-year-old seminary on the banks of the Mississippi River currently forming individuals from 16 different (Arch)dioceses and religious orders. 16 seminarians are scheduled to become Catholic priests in spring 2024, including 11 from the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis.
