Operating out of the Church of Saint Lawrence, the Newman Center directly provides campus ministry to hundreds of students each year who live, work, and study at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. The Newman Center boasts a “vibrant student community, rooted in the gospel and formed by worship, service, and student leadership.” This welcoming Catholic community on campus encourages its students to both “encounter” and “share” the abundant love of Christ.
Below is a testimonial from Alison, an alumna of the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities who was largely involved at the Saint Lawrence – Newman Center during her recent years as a student. She helped lead an initiative to raise pledges from the graduating class to give back to the Newman Center in years to come. Read more to learn about her experience!
“Many people my age find it hard to continue with or grow deeper in their faith when they come to college. However, I have found the opposite at Saint Lawrence. Being able to come to a parish that has a passion for bringing everyone to Christ has given me a new-found zeal for my Catholic faith and inspires me to run to the Lord every day. Saint Lawrence has given me so much, which inspired me to give back through the Senior Gift Fund, where seniors are offered the opportunity to commit to a monetary gift over the course of several years to support Saint Lawrence after they have graduated. I am thankful for this opportunity to give back, and even more grateful for parishioners who give what they can in support of Saint Lawrence’s outreach. I would not be who I am today if it weren’t for the generous donations and spiritual support of the Saint Lawrence family!”
