The 2016 March for Life contingent has returned home from Washington D.C. This trip was offered by the Office of Marriage, Family and Life – (MFL). The Catholic Services Appeal Foundation funds MFL’s work.
In addition to hosting this approx. 150 to 200 March for Life group from our area each year, here are some of the additional pro-life efforts of Marriage, Family and Life:
- Hosts the annual Prayer Service for Life – which 3,000 people attend
- Hosts the Vigil for Life during which they pray for the intention of those who are post abortive
- Offer an annual retreat for post abortive persons
- Ensure that at events such as Archdiocesan Youth Day and the Live Family Expo, they have a strong pro-life presence
- Administer the Life Fund which financially supports families who have an infant or a woman who is pregnant. They help with rent, bills and making sure the infants have a healthy and safe environment to live in by supplying the parent with best baby cribs list and other suggestions. In 2015 they raised and distributed over $42,000
- Support and encourage local life care centers as best we can by prompting activities and assisting financially, when possible
- Work with local organizations to develop ways to reach out to adults and youth alike, supporting leadership conferences sidewalk counseling opportunities, 40 Days for Life, Jericho Walk, etc
- Host the annual Children’s Rosary Pilgrimage held at the Cathedral of Saint Paul, at which 2,500 grade school children pray for the unborn and for their parents
